Overview

Whitcher Wildlife Ltd is a small, family based company with ten employees offering an Ecological Consultancy service to all from private home owners to all aspects of industry and specialising in the rail industry.

We specialise in Phase I Habitat and general ecology surveys followed by specialist surveys as required including badger bait marking surveys, great crested newt surveys, bat surveys, reptile surveys, water vole and otter surveys, crayfish surveys, etc.

These are supplemented by the preparation of reports, mitigation strategies, licence application and the supervision of mitigation measures to completion.

While we carry out local surveys, particularly bat surveys in the region in and around Yorkshire, we are also Link Up approved to work on the railway network, for Network Rail and all major contractors. This work involves more extensive travel to sites across the UK.

We are seeking to recruit a new consultant to join our practice and to help us cope with the ever increasing work load. A good educational background and proven driving experience are essential, previous experience with UK species is desirable, but the most important criteria will be a flexible and enthusiastic attitude and your ability to fit in with and complement a small and existing team of consultants.

Based in our office in Darfield, Barnsley, applicants must be prepared to live within 15 miles of the office.

In return, we offer the opportunity to work in a small family business, with your own van, phone and all necessary equipment for the job. We provide training courses to improve and extend your knowledge and ability and do everything to help you to develop.
