Overview

We are looking to recruit a motivated and ambitious ecologist to complement the skills and experience of the existing team.  The successful candidate will be motivated with excellent communication and be willing to develop their skills and abilities within the busy team.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will undertake the following:

Designing, undertaking and leading ecological surveys including: habitat, botanical, protected species of terrestrial and freshwater habitats.
Management of ecological elements of projects from inception to post-construction.
Assisting with and preparing a wide variety of reports, such as Preliminary Ecological Assessment, species specific management plans, desk studies, high level constraints/ opportunities reports, EcIA and HRA.
Maintaining and promoting high quality client relationships.
Designing mitigation schemes including assisting in the preparation of licence applications for protected species.
Assisting with preparation of tenders and fee quotations.

You:

The successful candidate will be seeking to develop their career in ecological consultancy and must be committed to seeking beneficial ecological solutions for development activities. We would expect candidates to have:

Experience in ecology, ideally in a consultancy setting, but other relevant experience would be considered.
Enthusiastic individual with good field skills in protected species and/or botany.
Experience of undertaking Ecological Clerk of Works duties would be advantageous.
Good knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation, including experience of practical application of mitigation requirements for protected species.
A minimum qualification of a BSc (Hons) in Ecology, or similar course.
A full driving licence.
An adaptable and flexible approach to work, to meet demands at peak times. This may include travel to other parts of the UK for short periods of time.
Having or working towards one or more protected species licence(s) would be an advantage.
Full member of CIEEM or working towards membership.
