Overview

Our NSW team is continuing to grow and diversify our range of clients, especially in the impact assessment and renewables industries. We are looking for an Ecologist in a Senior/Principal or Team Leader role to join either our Sydney or Newcastle based teams to support this growth. Your role will include project management, leading impact assessment and monitoring surveys and delivering the associated reporting to support a diverse range of projects for internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Delivery of environmental surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems, specifically flora and fauna, biodiversity and habitat
  • Advanced plant community identification skills
  • Ability to coordinate and lead field surveys including terrestrial flora and fauna
  • Understanding and application of all relevant impact assessment legislation that underpins ecological projects
  • Production of high-quality technical reports and ability to provide technical review
  • Provide technical support, mentoring and assistance to the team
  • Identify issues and problems and develop appropriate solutions

Qualifications required

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources or related field
  • BAM Accreditation
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in either an environmental consultancy or the public sector including undertaking ecological/ environmental surveys and report production
  • Experience using Arc GIS, ESRI and ePrimer
  • High level flora and fauna identification skills
  • Advanced report writing skills
  • Comprehensive interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Driver’s licence essential
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally

Additional information

Position includes both office and fieldwork and the applicant must be physically able to stand and work in the field including in remote areas for extended periods of time. However, we are also open to hearing from experienced individuals that are working remotely interstate.

This position will allow you to continue to develop your knowledge and experience within the environmental field whilst being recognised as a key contributor to various existing and future projects throughout NSW.
