Full-time post, based in Cheddar

Somerset Wildlife Trust is seeking an experienced ecologist from the conservation sector to act as technical and strategic lead on our ecology work. Reporting to the Director of Conservation, the role exists to lead the development and delivery of the Trust’s landscape-scale conservation programmes; to act as technical lead on ecology across the Trust; and lead on developing biodiversity outcomes through the planning process.  

You will have at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience working with nature conservation organisations in the public and/or voluntary sectors, with an in-depth knowledge of the ecology of a broad range of UK habitats and species. We are particularly interested in ecologists with some knowledge of the planning system, net gain approaches and a keen understanding of conservation legislation, policy and theory on landscape-scale conservation and ecological networks.  Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and often with partner organisations, you will represent the Trust in meetings, workshops and lectures. Your leadership skills will include line-management, project development and budget management.
