We are seeking to employ a proactive and enthusiastic Senior Ecological Consultant to join our expanding team in Manchester.
Role Overview
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing and conducting Phase 1 ecological surveys and targeted detailed species surveys. You will play a crucial role in managing input into planning applications, environmental assessments, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and advising clients on mitigation strategies.
You will work on potentially ecologically sensitive sites in the property, industrial, hi-tech, sports, energy, and transport sectors in both the UK and Overseas. You will also play a central role in designing Net Positive Places throughout the UK and Overseas.
Your Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead ecological assessments for property development projects.
- Collaborate with architects, planners, and engineers to integrate ecological considerations into designs.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
Biodiversity Enhancement
- Develop strategies for enhancing biodiversity on development sites.
- Advise on habitat creation, restoration, and management.
- Implement measures to achieve biodiversity net gain.
Technical Expertise
- Conduct ecological surveys (e.g., Phase 1 habitat surveys, protected species surveys).
- Ideally hold survey licences for protected species.
- Be a member of a relevant professional body.
- Analyse data and prepare ecological reports.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with clients, local authorities, and conservation bodies.
- Present findings and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
Team Management
- Mentor junior ecologists, fostering their professional growth.
- Oversee project teams and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Utilise data visualisation technologies for data analysis and visualisation such as GIS.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Ecology or a related field.
- Valid driving license.
