Ground Control’s Professional Services department has a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated and commercially minded Principal Ecologist for our in-house Ecology Consultancy. We’re looking for a Principal Ecologist who wants to expand their current skill set or a highly experienced Senior Ecologist with solid project management experience, looking for a promotion. Be part of a forward thinking, environmentally focused business who have recently won the Pro Landscaper business award for the most Sustainable Company of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management of UK Habitat Classification Surveys, (licenced) protected species surveys;
  • Building tenders and creating complex fee quotations at speed;
  • Producing complex technical reports (PEA reports, BNG reports, protected species reports, Habitat Management Plans, BREEAM reports, HRAs and EcIAs);
  • Managing medium to large sized projects with ability to track financial progress;
  • Line management of junior ecologists
  • Logistical and legislative problem solving

Are You Right For This Role?

We welcome applications from Senior Ecologists or existing Principals who are looking for a change. You must have full membership the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management – MCIEEM, a relevant bachelor’s degree (or higher) and at least one protected species licence. A Personal Track Safety accreditation would be a bonus.

Exemplary Candidates Will:

  • Have a desire for line management
  • Prioritise workloads and complete tasks in a timely manner;
  • Have high attention to detail, especially in technical reporting;
  • A strength UK wildlife legislation and understand how to apply it correctly;
  • Have clear and consistent communication skills;
  • Be personable and a team player, even on tough days; and
  • Hold a full UK driving license
