Westgate, Barnsley, South Yorkshire (This would be the normal base of work for this role, however, due to the current Government guidance around social distancing and our evolving ways of working, this means that you may be required to work remotely (e.g. from home/other locations). We are looking for an experienced Planning Ecologist to join our Planning Policy Team.

Your role in our journey

You will be responsible for ensuring that the biodiversity potential of sites is preserved and enhanced in Barnsley and will lead on biodiversity and geodiversity issues in relation to plan making, development proposals and nature conservation sites.

What you’ll need

We are looking for a motivated individual with good communications skills at all levels, who will fit in well with our friendly team and be able to effectively manage peaks in workload to provide timely input into planning decisions. You will have experience of undertaking ecological assessment and developing and implementing biodiversity and/or Geodiversity Action Plans.  We are also looking for somebody who is competent in the use of the Defra Biodiversity Metric and who is able to evaluate habitats to the UK Habitats Classification level.

You will be a member of CIEEM (associate or higher) and will have significant post qualification experience.
