Swansea Council is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Ecologist to support its Planning and Regeneration Service.

The successful applicant will join a team of Planning Ecologists responsible for providing  advice in relation to planning applications and development proposals, planning policy, input into HRA’s, appeals and public inquiries. The post will also involve the co-ordination of biodiversity surveys and data, inputs into relevant plans and strategies, and the provision of specialist ecological advice and information to other Council services and wider stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policy.

Candidates should have a relevant degree and preferably CIEEM membership. Sound ecological survey skills (Phase 1 Habitats, NVC, and protected species survey experience and or /development licenses) are required as is a clear understanding of relevant legislation and policies. Excellent communication skills and an ability to deliver high quality and succinct technical reports are essential. The successful candidate will be diligent, professional and enthusiastic. 

This is a permanent, part time (3 days/week) role with the possibility of additional hours.
