About the role:

To provide specialist advice on ecology and biodiversity matters relevant to the planning service.

About you:

  • Have significant experience of biodiversity matters relevant to planning
  • Have experience of delivering excellent customer care
  • Have a sound understanding of planning legislation and procedures
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Be passionate about working for a vibrant rural local planning authority

What you will do:

  • To provide professional advice on biodiversity assisting in the fulfilment of Powys County Council’s legal obligations relating to biodiversity.
  • To provide professional advice / training on biodiversity matters to Planning Officers, Planning Agents /Applicants, Councillors and the Planning, Taxi Licensing and Rights of Way Committee.
  • To undertake when appropriate, EIA screening and give EIA scoping opinions formally on behalf of the authority.
  • To undertake biodiversity assessments relevant to the planning process, including HRA assessments.
  • To remain up to date with all relevant legislation, appropriate guidance, national standards, policies and other good practice.
  • To take the lead in maintaining close working links with Natural Resources Wales and other biodiversity organisations.

Service: Planning and Property

Salary: Grade 10 Point 27 to Point 29 £35,745 to £37,336 per annum pro rata £18.52 to £19.35 per hour
