Applications are invited for the post of Graduate Ecologist within the Countryside and Wildlife Team of Neath Port Talbot CBC. This is a temporary post until 31st March 2020, with the possibility of extension should further funding be identified.

The Countryside and Wildlife Team is a multi-disciplinary team in part dealing with all aspects of biodiversity conservation of the Council. This includes providing advice to internal departments and the public, undertaking surveys and delivering biodiversity projects and initiatives. The work supports the delivery of statutory responsibilities for biodiversity conservation. The post holder will support the team in delivering biodiversity initiatives and providing ecological advice; whilst gaining experience and training to progress towards working more independently. A key part of this role is to undertake ecological surveys and support the provision of mitigation measures, such as reptile translocation; alongside assisting in the delivery of plans, policies and biodiversity project work. This position will provide an exciting opportunity for a motivated graduate to gain a wide range of experience in the sector.

You should possess a degree or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline.

The successful applicant will be required to spend time out in the field and therefore must be self-motivated and capable of progressing towards working under limited supervision. Candidates must also have the ability to travel throughout the County Borough.
