This is your chance to establish and grow a service from the ground up, working alongside landscape architects, urban designers, and planners on some of the UK’s most forward-thinking and environmentally responsible projects.
About the Role
You will:
- Lead the development of our new ecology service offering
- Provide ecological input across all project stages — from baseline surveys to design integration, mitigation strategies, planning support and ecological clerk of works
- Deliver services including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), EcIA, protected species surveys, and BNG assessments in line with the Environment Act
- Collaborate with our design teams to champion nature-based solutions and enhance biodiversity in both urban and rural settings
- Contribute to business development, project proposals, and client engagement
About You
- Degree-qualified ecologist with a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience, ideally in consultancy or multi-disciplinary environments
- Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and BNG requirements
- Experience in protected species surveys, mitigation design, and ecological reporting
- Comfortable working independently and with the initiative to shape new processes, systems, and services
- Membership of CIEEM (or working towards) and holding protected species licences (e.g., bat, GCN) is desirable
- A confident communicator who enjoys collaboration and wants to make a long-term impact
What We Offer
- The chance to create and lead a new department within a well-established and respected practice
- Flexible working arrangements, including part-office/part-remote options
- Competitive salary based on experience and wide range of benefits.
- A supportive and creative studio culture focused on sustainability, innovation, and professional development
- A diverse range of projects including public realm, masterplanning, and green infrastructure
