Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hrs per week)
Salary Range: D.O.E Career Grade – £28,000 – £32,000 per annum

Red Kite is a well-established registered practice with the LI and CIEEM based in stunning Shropshire, conveniently located between the Welsh border and the West Midlands.

Red Kite has a strong reputation of working collaboratively with local authority, environmental, heritage, charity, and commercial sectors as well as health, education and tourism providers. Our work is diverse and we work primarily within two hours of our office.

About the role

We wish to recruit a team member ideally with a consultancy background in ecological assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), and protected species surveying.

We would like to recruit an individual who can work independently with relevant demonstrable experience with a competent knowledge of wildlife legislation, planning policy, field surveys, ecological report writing, and industry standard survey methodologies.

There will be opportunities to work on a diverse portfolio of projects as well as the opportunity for career progression for the right candidate.

Whilst it is envisaged that the role will be full-time, we would be willing to consider applications on a part-time basis for the right candidate.


What do we need from you?

Candidates should have the following desirable attributes:

  • Hold a degree level qualification (or higher) in an ecology-related subject

  • Minimum 3 to 4 years’ experience relevant to the level of post

  • Obtained and working towards relevant level of CIEEM

  • Obtained or working towards a protected species licence and/or FISC

  • Knowledge and experience of Biodiversity Net Gain and using the statutory metric

  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills

  • Experience and knowledge of using a range of software, including QGIS

  • Willingness to work as part of a team across the company

  • Valid driving licence and access to own car insured for business use (if required)
