Overview

An exciting and challenging opportunity awaits a self-motivated, organised and flexible individual to work within a growing multi-disciplinary consultancy business. You will work on a range of ecological projects across the UK, requiring a mixture of field and office-based skills.

The Senior Ecologist role will suit an experienced Ecological Consultant, who will play a crucial role in assisting to co-ordinate ecological services and support junior staff. It is anticipated the role will develop into a team leader role with increased management responsibilities.

You will be expected to work closely alongside your colleagues in order to ensure tasks are undertaken on time and to a consistently high standard. The ability to organise and prioritise your own workload in a fast-paced environment is essential.

Ecologist Specification:

Established professional Ecologist, with at least 2 years ecological consultancy experience.
Holds a Natural England bat survey class license.
Professional survey experience in one or more of the following areas:
Botanical (Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, NVC)
Great crested newts
Badgers
Reptiles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent project delivery and project management skills.
CIEEM Graduate / Associate membership
A positive outlook and strong desire to succeed in your chosen profession.
Full driving license and access to own vehicle.

Senior Ecologist Specification (additional to above):

Established Senior Ecologist, with at least 5 years ecological consultancy experience.
Established area(s) of specialism combined with excellent all-round field skills.
Proficiency with protected species work, including obtaining EPS Mitigation (development) licenses (for bats and/or gcn) and personal survey licenses. Being a Registered Consultant for Natural England’s BLICL and/or GCN LICL would be very advantageous.
Commercial awareness.
Full working knowledge of relevant wildlife/environmental legislation and policy, the planning process, EIA and Appropriate Assessment.
Associate / Full CIEEM membership.
