We are an environmental services company, looking to appoint an experienced environmental specialist to join our team in our office, based near Inverness.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of a EnvCoW / Environmental Specialist / Ecologist include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide on-site support for a range of projects, undertake field surveys and reporting on projects throughout the Highlands and Islands.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a EnvCoW- Ecologist are:

  • Sound working knowledge of species and habitat.
  • Good understanding of licensing and mitigation in the Scottish context.
  • Previous experience as a site EnvCoW.
  • Self-motivated and be able to plan and successfully deliver fieldwork on time and budget to exacting standards for a range of clients.
  • Graduates in an appropriate discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar environment.
  • Personable and be able to communicate well.
  • Sense of humour and be able to build successful relationships with a range of clients.
  • Experience of writing technical reports in a concise and readable style is important.
  • A UK driving licence is needed, as there will be travel throughout the north of Scotland and islands. There will be an element of working away from home with some antisocial hours.
  • Membership of a professional body is advantageous.

Highland Ecology and Development Limited is a small family run company based on the Black Isle near Inverness. We have 5 employees and 6 associates. With over 40 years’ experience in ecological management we have worked with a range of clients on large and small scale projects, from small house extensions to major substation construction. We provide project support throughout Scotland.
