Waterman Infrastructure & Environment is seeking a motivated and skilled Ecology Consultant to join our team in Nottingham!

Our Waterman Ecology team is a CIEEM Registered Ecology Practice exemplifying our depth and breadth of experience and technical excellence.

Located in the heart of the city next to the National Justice Museum, our office benefits from excellent transport links and nearby parking. We are working on a variety of high-profile projects, from cutting-edge arts and media facilities like the Everyman Theatre and Confetti Institute of Creative Arts to major new student residential developments. These projects are shaping the future of Nottingham and helping to improve infrastructure, sustainability, and urban development.

As an Ecology Consultant at Waterman, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and exciting projects across different sectors, including residential, commercial, and education developments. You will be responsible for conducting ecological surveys, managing ecological assessments, and providing mitigation strategies for a wide variety of projects. You will also have the chance to collaborate closely with colleagues across multiple disciplines to ensure successful project outcomes.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Undertaking protected species surveys, ecological impact assessments (EcIA), and mitigation strategies for projects.

• Writing technical reports and contributing to project proposals.

• Working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions to clients.

• Managing and coordinating project timelines, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.

• Engaging with local clients and supporting the growth of the Nottingham office.

About you: We are looking for a candidate with:

• A degree in Ecology or a related field.

• Full membership of CIEEM (or equivalent).

• Some years of experience in ecological consultancy, with a focus on ecological surveys and assessments.

• Familiarity with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and the EIA process.

• A strong understanding of ecological legislation, planning policies, and protected species licensing.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise reports.
