Waterman Infrastructure & Environment is seeking a motivated Ecology Consultant to join our team in London, based just a stone’s throw from Borough Market in the heart of Southwark’s dynamic Bankside district!

Our Waterman Ecology team is a CIEEM Registered Ecology Practice exemplifying our depth and breadth of experience and technical excellence.

As an Ecology Consultant, you will contribute to delivering ecological surveys, assessments, and mitigation strategies, ensuring that each project meets both ecological and sustainability objectives. You will play a role in early engagement with clients, conducting ecological impact assessments, and providing ongoing support through the implementation of mitigation plans. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with experts across various fields and supporting a wide range of projects both in London and across the UK.

Key responsibilities:

• Conducting ecological surveys for a variety of projects across diverse sectors.

• Writing Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), and other technical reports.

• Providing ecological advice and guidance to clients, with a focus on biodiversity enhancement and mitigation strategies.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines to integrate ecological requirements into project designs.

• Liaising with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure project compliance.

About you: The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree in Ecology or a related field.

• Full membership of CIEEM (or equivalent).

• Some years experience in ecological consultancy.

• Experience in conducting Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments.

• Strong knowledge of UK ecological legislation and planning processes.

• Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
