Based in the vibrant Wapping Wharf, our Bristol office offers easy access to local cultural landmarks, heritage, and amenities. We are engaged in some of the most prestigious and innovative projects in the region, supporting a variety of sectors including manufacturing, education, healthcare, residential, and infrastructure. Some of the key projects we’re working on include the Manufacturing Technology Centre and long-standing government and defense contracts, such as Aspire Defence. Our Bristol team is growing and offers a fantastic opportunity to work on forward-thinking and diverse projects in a collaborative environment.
As an Ecology Consultant, you will be integral to delivering ecological surveys, assessments, and mitigation strategies for a wide range of projects. You will be involved in pre-planning due diligence, early-stage ecological surveys, protected species surveys, as well as post-planning activities, ensuring compliance with ecological regulations and best practices. You will work closely with colleagues from other disciplines, contributing to multidisciplinary teams and helping to provide sustainable solutions for our clients.
Key responsibilities:
• Conducting protected species surveys and ecological assessments for a range of projects.
• Writing high-quality technical reports, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) reports.
• Contributing to mitigation design and providing advice on biodiversity enhancement strategies.
• Collaborating with colleagues across the business, ensuring that ecological considerations are integrated into wider project objectives.
• Liaising with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
About you: We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with:
• A degree in Ecology or a related field.
• Full membership of CIEEM (or equivalent).
• Some of experience in ecological consultancy.
• Experience with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and the EIA process.
• A working knowledge of UK ecological legislation, planning policy, and protected species licensing.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear, concise reports and interact with a range of stakeholders.
