Our close-knit, supportive team delivers ecological and environmental services across the project life cycle — from concept and construction to operation and decommissioning.

The Role

We are seeking an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join our team and provide specialist ecological input across a variety of projects, supporting the consenting process from feasibility through to decommissioning.

You will be expected to:

  • Produce supporting documents for various planning and consenting requirements

  • Design and conduct ecological surveys (aligned to your specialism)

  • Propose ecological and environmental mitigation strategies

  • Contribute to Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) pre-screening reports

  • Prepare Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) chapters

  • Provide on-site ecological support

This role will be based at either our Inverness or Stirling office. Travel, including overnight stays, may occasionally be required to meet client needs.

Essential Attributes

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in ecology or a related subject

  • Relevant work experience in terrestrial ecology

  • Strong knowledge of Scottish wildlife legislation and ecological guidance

  • Experience completing extended Phase 1 Habitat or UKHab surveys

  • Excellent report writing and communication skills

  • A full, clean UK manual driving licence

  • A practical mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in an Environmental/Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) role

  • Additional field survey skills (e.g., protected species surveys)

  • Experience completing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals

  • Membership (or working toward membership) of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM)
