Luscinia Ecology is seeking a full-time or part-time Ecologist to join our growing team.

Established in April 2022, we’ve had strong performance and growth over the last three survey seasons. We’re a CIEEM Registered Practice and our strength is in the delivery of high-quality services, which ultimately leads to client retention and consistent client referral.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role will routinely include undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (habitat surveys and condition assessments), Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments, protected species surveys, and Ecological Assessments.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A genuine and demonstrable enthusiasm for ecology and the environment.
  • Degree or equivalent in an ecology related discipline.
  • Self-awareness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in writing a range of different report types.
  • Capable of working independently and flexibly, often outdoors, and including evening surveys.
  • Experience of UK Habitat Classification or Phase 1 surveys, along with protected species surveys.
  • Experience of working with nature metrics.
  • A Natural England protected species licence or actively working towards this.
  • Full driving licence and use of a car.
  • Member of CIEEM (or eligible).

DESIRABLES

  • A strong background in botany / FISC level 4 or equivalent.
  • Experience in writing mitigation strategies and protected species licences.
  • Experience with QGIS.
  • Comfortable being client facing and networking.
  • Project management experience.
