A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ecologist to join our Inverness Team
Nevis Environmental is an independent consultancy providing environmental management, planning and development services. We advise clients on whole project lifecycle, from site search and feasibility, through the planning and assessment stage, to delivery and compliance. Nevis Environmental was established in 2004 and quickly became known as a leader in the field of onshore wind, guiding projects through environmental management construction and operational monitoring and we are specialists in habitat management and reconstruction.
About the role
Nevis have a variety of long-standing clients and long-term projects, as well as a raft of new projects planned in for 2020. We are therefore seeking an experienced Ecologist to complement our existing team in the Inverness Office and support our Senior & Principal Consultants.
Your role with Nevis will involve:
- Project Management
Nevis prides itself on a quality, bespoke service to our clients – our clients are at the heart of what we do. Your role will be to ensure the quality delivery of projects on time and on budget, and in accordance with company expectations and to exceed those of our clients
- Tendering for new projects
Nevis is proud of the high volumes of repeat business, as well as word of mouth recommendations for our services. Your role will involve responding to requests for tenders, including liaison with the ecology team re resourcing, and pricing up offers of services.
- Coordinate the survey team and undertake field / site work as required;
Nevis have a wide client base across Scotland and the North of England and so our sites include a range of renewable energy and built development projects. Surveys will be varied to include Ornithological (we have some incredible birds in Scotland- lucky us!), Habitats and Ecology (pine martens, water voles, wildcats….) – who wants to do the same thing every day anyway?
- Provide sound and professional environmental or ecology advice to the project team

This is a varied, challenging but deeply rewarding role and one that is key to the success of the business. As such, we are seeking a candidate with 3-4 years Environmental Consultancy experience – this experience can however originate from ornithology, botany or ecology- with previous project management experience and strong client liaison skills being crucial.
What we would like from you:
Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant field
Strong technical experience in ecological survey and assessment
Tendering experience including pricing of new projects and set up
Project Management experience including project start up, resourcing, client & stakeholder liaison
Excellent communication and people skills, a natural problem solver with an ability to speak to clients on all levels and within a variety of industries
Full driving license
A real interest and understanding of the environment
