To meet our growing project workload we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Ecologist to be based in our Exeter team.
Environment & Geoscience

What you will be doing
- Undertaking Phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species surveys;
- Planning and co-ordinating field surveys and ecological mitigation works, analysing and interpreting survey results;
- Working with design teams and taking responsibility for defined areas of the project scope, solving problems using best practice;
- Undertaking reporting including Preliminary Ecological Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments;
- Leading on small/medium projects and managing project budgets across different sectors; and
- Collaborating with our multi-disciplinary teams within the region.
Ideally, you would have the following qualifications and/or attributes:
- A degree in ecology or closely related field;
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM);
- Good working knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, licensing requirements and best practice survey techniques;
- Be capable at undertaking a range of surveys and reporting for Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessment;
- Experience of preparing protected species licence applications;
- Experience in implementation of ecological mitigation on site;
- A sound base of ecological technical knowledge, developing an in-depth knowledge in a given field;
- Hold at least one protected species survey licence;
- Excellent communication skills; and
- A full valid UK/EEC driving licence.
