Overview

We have an opportunity for a suitably qualified Ecologist to join our consultancy practice Essex Ecology Services.

The post holder will work closely with the Principal Ecologist to develop and expand our ecology consultancy practice through ecological surveys and producing reports for a variety of commercial clients, including utility companies, developers, and local authorities.

The successful application must have equivalent experience or hold a relevant degree qualification, have prior experience in ecological consultancy or related work together with experience of development planning and its application in respect of ecological and biodiversity matters. It is essential that the post holder has knowledge of current and emerging legislation and policy in respect to ecological and biodiversity issues and fieldwork skills with experience of a range of fauna and flora survey methods.

The role is a full-time position on a permanent basis based at our offices in Great Wigborough near Colchester.

Essex Wildlife Trust is currently trialing hybrid-working arrangements with a view to implementing a workplace policy in 2023. Further details of the hybrid-working arrangements will be shared at interview.
