Are you passionate about helping people to learn more about wildlife on their doorstep? Can you excite others about our natural environment, and help guide their enthusiasm and interest towards helping improve the wildlife value of green spaces, verges, or gardens within their communities?
We are looking for someone with a strong background in ecology from within the conservation sector, having built your skills and knowledge in ecological consultancy, site/habitat management, or associated roles.
Your role will be split across three projects within Devon; Green Minds – a European funded partnership with Plymouth City Council, raising the value and understanding of green spaces in the city. Conservation Communities – a DWT led project working across eleven parishes in North Devon, delivering wildlife focused training and support to local initiatives and community groups. Saving Devon’s Treescapes – a DWT led partnership project where your role will include setting up citizen science surveys for brown hairstreak butterflies and a range of other indicator species associated with our hedgerow and small copses where the impact of ash dieback will hit hardest.
You will be a great communicator, able to share your knowledge and train others at appropriate levels, recruit volunteers and create citizen science micro projects whilst also setting up longer term monitoring initiatives, which will be a legacy of your time in post.
This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week), fixed term appointment until 31 March 2022, based at DBRC’s office at Alden’s Court, Exeter.
We can offer you good terms and conditions, flexible working arrangements and a great office environment. The successful candidate will be joining a team of committed, hardworking and friendly colleagues. This is a great opportunity to take the next step in your career within a leading Devon charity.
