Overview

We are seeking a highly enthusiastic and organised person with a keen interest in biodiversity to lead on our biodiversity operations across the borough

You will need a solid knowledge of preservation and ecology together with a can do attitude.

A good team player as well as someone able to operate on their own is essential. This is very much a hands on practical position but there is also a small amount of IT skills required to carry out the role.
The borough of Basingstoke and Deane is very rich in a range of habitats including woodlands, grasslands and heathland
You will be a good communicator as working with and alongside volunteer and friends groups is an essential requirement of the role.

Main responsibilities

1. Grass cutting (and collection, in species – rich areas)
2. Thicket thinning and scrub clearance,
3. Woodland coppice work and woodland ride clearance.
4. Hedge cutting and hedge laying
5. Pond and water body clearance
6. Tree planting
7. Wild flower and grass seeding.
8. Liaising with Biodiversity and Green Space Officers

Skills and Competencies required
1. Highly motivated individual
2. Well-organised and able to take direction
3. Strong team work skills
4. Tractor driving skills
5. Keen attention to detail
6. Proactive and flexible approach to work
7. Relevant biodiversity experience
8. Full UK driving license
