Fixed term contract for one year, with potential for extension of one year subject to securing external funding

We have a vacancy for an Assistant Ecology Officer to take on an important role in our Planning Service.

Rushmoor is a pragmatic and ambitious council. We are embarking on a number of exciting projects, including delivering our Green Infrastructure Strategy, establishing a Habitat Bank of Biodiversity Net Gain units on our own estate and scoping a new Local Plan. The Planning Team are a friendly, dynamic team with a supportive ‘can do attitude’ towards achieving sustainable development within the borough.

Following a successful bid for external funding, we are seeking a hardworking, pragmatic and adaptive individual to join the team and support the Council’s Ecology Officer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mould and develop the approach taken towards mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain and support delivery in a way that meets the requirements of the Environment Act and the Council’s local policy obligations.

They will help embed biodiversity within core planning processes, support our planning officers to achieve a net gain in biodiversity across a variety of development proposals and secure on and offsite net gain delivery options while addressing local challenges to its implementation.

This is a fixed term post for one year, but with the potential for extension subject to the Council securing further external funding.
