Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic Assistant Ecologists (2x seasonal) to join a small team based near Melton Mowbray, undertaking a range of field survey work for habitats and protected species (bats, GCN, reptiles, otters, water voles, badgers and nesting birds) across the UK. The successful candidates will also be involved with GIS mapping, analysis of field data and technical report writing. In addition, there will be opportunities to contribute to the practical implementation of projects.
Salary – £17,100 – £19,500 (Depending on experience)   
Whilst working as an assistant ecologist you will be involved with client liaison, assisting in a range of habitat and protected species surveys, deputising to the Ecologist and Principal Ecologist. It’s a fantastic opportunity to further your experience and personal development whilst learning how a busy consultancy operates.
Although these roles are seasonal, opportunities to become full time may arise and assistants will be considered.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with UK botanical and / or faunal identification and survey work;
  • A sound background in or enthusiasm for natural history and familiarity with UK flora and fauna;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with effective teamwork and excellent communication skills;
  • Some experience of protected species survey and mitigation.
  • Ability to work flexible/anti-social hours, including dusk and dawn.
