Overview

We have a new and exciting opportunity to join our Nature Restoration Team as an Assistant Ecologist, working alongside our Senior Ecologist to drive impactful change. As a vital member of the team, you will provide advice and support across our entire programme of work, including at Dundreggan, in Affric Highlands, and with external partners. This role is perfect for someone with knowledge of the ecology, wildlife and habitats of the Scottish Highlands, particularly its woodlands – and a passion to revive them.

Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Knowledge of the ecology, wildlife and habitats of the Scottish Highlands, particularly its woodlands.
  • Learn and apply the Wild Trees survey methodology to identify habitat remnants from historic data, biodiversity hotspots, threatened areas and recovery potential.
  • Support the design and implementation of monitoring programmes for ecological projects, ensuring effective management and adaptation.
  • Assist with woodland herbivore impact assessments and peat depth surveys to assess habitat condition and restoration needs.
  • Analyse and interpret survey data using GIS tools, presenting findings, making recommendations and providing reports.

Salary range: £24,746 – £28,296pa

Start date: 8th July

Hours: 35 p/w
