Overview

Aspect Ecology have upcoming opportunities for enthusiastic and capable graduates to assist with ecological surveys and translocations, centered on Great Crested Newts, bats and reptiles.

Previous experience of conducting surveys for protected species is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified graduate or an undergraduate to obtain valuable field skills.

We have opportunities starting in April, with surveys continuing until September / October 2015 so would be looking for commitment of up to 7 months. You will be required to work up to five days per week with opportunities for weekend work as well. Opportunities may also be available to assist with surveys for a variety of other species such as Badger, Water Voles, Dormice and Otters.

Much of our survey work is located in central and south east England so a base close to our office in Banbury, or in Kent, Surrey, Sussex or Essex, would be particularly useful.

Essential:

– Flexible and enthusiastic approach;

– Willingness to work ‘ecological hours’ and to travel;

– Available to start in March/April;

– Full driving licence and own car;

– Confidence to work with reptiles and amphibians.

Wages are paid at an hourly rate and dependent on experience. B&B accommodation will be provided where required and business mileage/subsistence reimbursed.
