Bowland Ecology is a well-established and thriving ecological consultancy. We have an exciting opportunity to join our talented aquatic ecology and entomology team in our lab at the Sci-Tech Daresbury Campus. You can expect:

  • Salary range 26-35K+ depending on experience

 Scope of role:

  • Laboratory analysis of biological samples, including aquatic invertebrates to at least family-level. Scope to identify terrestrial groups where applicable
  • Seasonal field based ecological, invertebrate, water quality, macrophyte, and/or fisheries survey work
  • Interpretation of field and laboratory data to report findings
  • Manage own projects (including tenders/fee proposals and client liaison)
  • Production of ecology reports
  • Supervision of junior staff

Successful Candidates will have:

  • Relevant degree level qualification
  • Membership of CIEEM or equivalent
  • Technical expertise in aquatic ecology, particularly invertebrate identification to at least family level
  • Excellent communication, team working project and time management skills
  • ‘Hands on’ approach, initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Current and full driving licence
  • Enthusiasm, confidence and a passion for Ecology and Entomology

Desirable:

  • FBA Accredited identification skills
  • Species-level aquatic invertebrate identification skills
  • Knowledge and experience of terrestrial invertebrate survey methods and identification, with specialist group interest
