Principal/Technical Director – Ecology

Overview

My client is well-known international consultancy with one of the UK’s largest and most respected ecology teams. The ecology team is responsible for providing specialist ecological advice across a wide variety of projects across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. They are now looking to hire a Principal or Technical Director of Ecology to meet their business development needs in their Birmingham office.

Main Responsibilities

Leading and mentoring a team of junior staff
Ecological Project Management
Business Development
Prepare detailed and high quality reports, including ecological impact assessments, feasibility studies and project scheme reports
Ensure that any technical issues are dealt with as they occur during projects and monitor the progress of projects
Essential Requirements

An honours degree in a relevant field
Full MIEEM
Eligibility for CEnv
Proven experience in most aspects of ecology
Excellent, proven interpersonal and communicative skills
Thorough understanding of biodiversity legislation both in the UK and Europe
Capable of managing a challenging workload that has the potential to change at short notice
Management experience
High level of personal responsibility
Be able to adapt for working on a diverse portfolio of projects
Good IT Skills
Desirable Requirements

CEnv
Postgraduate degree
At least one protected species licence
Full current driving licence
Project management experience
An ecological specialism
