Overview

Salary: Equivalent to £16,000-18,000 per annum, depending upon skills and experience

Adonis Ecology is looking to recruit an assistant ecologist to start as soon as possible for a contract that would last until the end of October 2016, with the possibility of a permanent post being offered at the end dependent upon performance and business workload. The role would involve undertaking a range of ecological surveys (especially bat surveys), desk studies and related admin, and report writing for planning applications and developments.  The post will be based at the Adonis Ecology office in Lavenham, Suffolk. In house training will be provided, plus a £50 contribution to external training courses.

Requirements:

  • A 2:1 or higher degree in ecology/biology or related subject and good report writing skills;
    A driving licence and car you can use for work purposes;
  • Prepared to be flexible over travel and hours – overnight stays and late night/early morning survey visits required;
  • Business-like, polite and professional manner for liaising with other team members, clients and suppliers;
  • Experience of dusk/dawn bat surveys and bat analysis, especially using Analook, BatScan and BatSound;
  • Reptile survey experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience of professional visual inspection of buildings and trees for bats and working towards a bat survey licence;
  • Experience of other protected species surveys;
  • Experience of working in business outside of ecological consultancy.
