PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • The Onshore Environmental Advisor shall provide a full portfolio of services including, but not limited to:
  • Implementation of corporate HSE management system
  • Support the Senior Environment Advisor in delivery of the Company annual Continual Improvement Plan
  • Drive implementation & support the environmental aspects of the annual Terminal HSE Plan
  • Support the asset in complying with the EMS and recommend improvements as required
  • Collation and reporting of Terminal environmental metrics to the organisation and to meet statutory obligations
  • Maintain the Terminal Aspects and Impacts Register and communicate effectively
  • Support and participate in HSE seminars, conferences and industry work groups

Terminal support

  • Oversee Terminal oil spill response arrangements including exercises and maintenance of oil spill response equipment
  • Assess and manage the annual environmental monitoring schedule and engage with third parties to deliver against expectations
  • Participate in/ lead environmental incident investigations and facilitate the completion of actions
  • Deliver the Terminal environmental audit plan and facilitate completion of actions
  • Conduct Terminal visits in support of improving HSE performance and maintaining effective workforce engagement
  • Advise on legal compliance requirements with Terminal PPC permit under COMAH
  • Coordination of all environmental permits and consents and the management of external consultants to assist in permit preparation, submission and revision as required
  • Ensure that the environmental risks associated with operations are systematically identified, mitigated and communicated
  • Engage with Terminal contractors to ensure legal compliance and drive improvements where relevant
  • Inform and provide general and issue specific environmental training support to operations
  • Responsible for the Terminal environmental budget

Regulatory liaison

  • Facilitate the environmental regulatory inspections and co-ordinate response and action completion
  • Positive and proactive regulatory and stakeholder (e.g. SEPA, SOTEAG, SNH, SIC) engagement as required in support of the Terminal

Developing environmental culture

  • Take a leading role in the development of a proactive environmental culture
  • Identify and implement new methods, techniques and practices to improve environmental performance
  • Support operations as required and develop relationships with personnel at all levels
  • Support and develop Environmental Representative role to improve Terminal  environmental performance and compliance

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Proven relevant experience in the UK Offshore Oil and Gas sector working on environmental issues
  • Recent experience in directly supporting an E&P Business in an Onshore Environmental Advisor capacity
  • Detailed knowledge of environmental regulation relating to onshore Oil & Gas activities
  • Production, distributing and maintenance of technical documentation – specifically producing reports and proof reading

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Candidates must be qualified to Degree Level in an Environmental field or equivalent experience.
  • Can evidence professional and personal development and/or learning.

Desirable

  • Membership of a professional body.
  • EMS audit qualification
  • Current offshore survival, medical and MIST certification is preferable as the role may include offshore trips
  • Oil spill response training
  • Experience with atmospherics data management, in particular EUETS
  • Experience with COMAH Regulations and regulatory / stakeholder engagement
