We’re looking for an Ecology & Forestry Advisor to become our in-house expert on ecology, biodiversity, woodland management, and environmental compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how we manage and enhance our landscapes, influence major projects, and help drive our sustainability ambitions.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Ecology & Forestry Advisor, you’ll:

  • Lead the development and review of Landscape & Woodland Management Plans across our sites.
  • Drive biodiversity enhancement projects, habitat restoration, and conservation initiatives.
  • Coordinate ecological monitoring programmes and track measurable environmental improvements.
  • Provide expert advice on environmental legislation, protected species, forestry management, and compliance requirements.
  • Support planning and development projects through ecological assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with Natural England, Forestry England, Wildlife Trusts, consultants, and other key stakeholders.
  • Help shape our approach to Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
  • Deliver training and guidance to operational teams, helping build ecological awareness across the business.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree qualified in Ecology, Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in ecology, forestry, habitat management, conservation, or environmental consultancy.
  • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and Biodiversity Net Gain requirements.
  • Experience managing ecological surveys and working with specialist consultants.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into practical solutions.
  • A collaborative approach and genuine passion for protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
  • Flexible to be on call when required.
  • Membership of CIEEM or a relevant professional body would be advantageous.
