Overview

We’re looking for Seasonal Surveyors to assist with ecological surveys in and around our offices in London, Bristol, Sheffield and Manchester on either a part-time fixed-term, or casual basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ecological field work, perfect for current students or those seeking seasonal work in the environmental sector.

Part-Time Fixed-Term Surveyors (PTFT)

• Hours: 15/20/25 hours per week (days to be discussed)
• Duration: May – September (inclusive)

Tasks:
• Assisting with dusk bat emergence surveys
• Potential involvement in reptile and other protected species surveys
• Reviewing Infrared/trail camera footage to identify wildlife presence
• Assisting with ecological reporting and QGIS mapping

Requirements:
• Must be able to drive, and preferably have access to a car
• Based in easy commutable distance of one of our offices (London, Bristol, Sheffield or Manchester)
• GIS experience is a bonus

Casual Surveyors

• Hours: Flexible/ad-hoc basis
• Duration: May – September (inclusive)

Tasks (with a particular focus on field work):
• Assisting with dusk bat emergence surveys
• Potential involvement in reptile and other protected species surveys
• Reviewing Infrared/trail camera footage to identify wildlife presence
• Assisting with ecological reporting and QGIS mapping

Requirements:
• Ideally be able to drive and have access to a car, however this is not essential
• Based in easy commutable distance of one of our offices (London, Bristol, Sheffield or Manchester)

What we’re looking for

We are keen to hear from current students seeking relevant work experience in ecology or environmental science, career changers or those with experience of ecological surveying looking for flexible work. This role offers a great opportunity to build your CV while contributing to vital ecological work.

Please note that you will be expected to carry out evening/night work – dusk bat surveys, on two to four nights per week (Monday – Thursday, flexible schedule), and office-based tasks including bat data analysis, camera footage review, desk studies, simple reports, and GIS mapping.
