Overview

A motivated and organised person is required to join a small but nationally recognised team assisting the County Council and other local authorities in Hampshire in their planning function and own development schemes to ensure that development within the County is sensitive to biodiversity.

Working closely with Highway Authority and Property Services colleagues, you will organise and undertake a wide range of ecological surveys, extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, protected species surveys and designing mitigation. You will also be managing the survey schedule, and carrying out desk studies, data analysis and report writing. The applicant will need the ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet project deadlines.

You should have an appropriate degree and/or professional qualification and relevant experience, including holding a European Protected Species License. A confident understanding of applied ecology, impact assessment and mitigation strategies is essential and a good knowledge of the planning process and environmental legislation is desirable.

This is a fixed-term contract to 31 March 2019.
