Charnwood borough sits within the three cities of Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. One third of the 167,000 population live in the thriving university town of Loughborough, with most of the remaining two thirds within the small towns and villages of the Wolds, the Soar and Wreake Valleys, Charnwood Forest and on theedge of Leicester.

 

The service requires a dynamic, motivated and organised ecology professional with significant recent experience of providing advice and guidance to the public, developers and Council officers on biodiversity and wildlife matters. The post is part of our Natural and Built Environment Team, dealing with design, conservation and ecology, and the successful applicant will be expected to be flexible across the team.

 

This full time (37 hours), permanent role will involve implementing the statutory requirements of the Council in all matters of ecology in the Borough. It will also include contributing professional advice on biodiversity to help achieve housing and employment growth at major development sites identified in our new local plan, including sustainable urban extensions.

 

You must possess a significant knowledge and understanding of ecology, including relevant planning legislation. You must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people and work to tight deadlines with the minimum of supervision, with effective negotiation and influencing skills.
