Overview

We are now seeking an Ecologist Or Senior Ecologist to join our established ecology team in Basingstoke.  The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering a range of projects, including a mixture of field based ecological surveys and office based project management and reporting.

Core activities will include:
Providing advice, and guidance to our clients in relation to biodiversity legislation and policy;
Planning and delivering extended Phase 1 habitat surveys, and protected species surveys;
Technical reporting to include survey reports, mitigation strategies and inputs for protected species licence applications and impact assessments;
Project management; to include client and stakeholder liaison, financial management and project programming in line with our business management system.
Within our national team there are also opportunities to join Technical Working Groups, and influence the continued development of our services and approach to ecological consultancy.

Qualifications and Work Experience:
The successful applicant will have an appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and be a member (or be eligible for membership) of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.  They will also have demonstrable experience in ecological consultancy, ideally to include extended Phase 1 habitat survey, a range of protected species surveys, experience guiding clients through the planning process and the implementation of ecological avoidance and mitigation measures on site.  They will be a holder (or working towards) of a European protected species survey license and be keen to share their skills with others in the team.

They will have a good understanding of relevant wildlife legislation and ecological survey methods which can be applied in the planning and delivery of project work.  Additionally they will have excellent report writing skills with a focus on quality and attention to detail.

They will hold a valid driving license and be comfortable in working in remote locations on occasion.
