The role

We are looking for a Senior Arboriculture Consultant to join our small dynamic team.  You will be expected to be involved in many aspects of the business – from initial enquiry, through to estimating, bid writing, site surveys, reporting and face-to-face client interaction.  You should be proficient in client and project management, with a flexible, can-do attitude.  It is essential that you are able to communicate effectively with clients both face-to-face, over the telephone and in writing.

The successful candidate must have the following

  • a degree or similar QCF Level 5 or above in arboriculture
  • suitable relevant experience within a consultancy or commercial environment
  • experience of undertaking tree hazard surveys using VTA and development surveys in accordance with BS5837:2012
  • experience in technical report writing including Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Arboricultural Method Statements as well as producing Tree Protection Plans
  • a good working knowledge of the National Planning Policy Framework including experience of liaison and negotiation with tree officers and an understanding of Tree Preservation Order Legislation
  • experience of pricing up works and putting together ITTs, PQQs and tenders as well as fee proposals
  • experience of MS Office, and ideally GIS systems, tree survey software, including using hand-held GPS mappers.

Ideally, the successful candidate will also have

  • membership of the Arboricultural Association (Technician or Professional)
  • experience in one or more of our core work sectors (rail, utilities, residential and commercial development)
  • experience of carrying out tree climbing inspections (for tree hazard assessment and bats)
  • an in-date CSCS card.

If shortlisted, candidates will be expected to undertake a short practical survey to assess how they work in the field.

This is a permanent position based in our modern offices in the picturesque Surrey Research Park, there will be a requirement, on occasion, to visit our offices and survey sites across the UK.  The successful candidate will live within commuting distance of Guildford or be prepared to relocate,
