We are looking for an experienced principal ecologist to join our UK team.

Reporting to the Head of Ecology, you will be responsible for managing a team of ecologists and delivery of our services to existing internal and external clients, as well as playing a key role in developing new business. You will have a good understanding of the issues and constraints associated with working on multi-disciplinary infrastructure development projects, managing resources, as well as ensuring technical excellence delivery sound financial performance.

Candidate Specification:

You must demonstrate the following:

A degree in Ecology (or directly related subject) as well as a masters level or higher qualification.

Chartered Environmentalist or Chartered Ecologist (desirable).

Protected species experience with a minimum of two associated licences (dormouse or white clawed crayfish desirable).

Excellent communication skills including extensive experience of the production high quality ecological assessments including EIA and HRA.

Proven ability of leading and directing teams of field surveyors on large projects.

UK ecological consultancy experience, with a strong client-orientated approach.

Excellent understanding of UK and European nature conservation legislation.

Excellent project and financial management skills.

Proven track record of developing new business.

Ability to inspire and commitment to develop the ecology team.

Experience of expert witness at a planning enquiry would be an advantage.

Willingness to travel throughout the UK.

Full UK driving licence.
