The business has also earned a reputation of maintaining outstanding health & safety practices across all its regions and operating divisions – this was recognised nationally in 2017 with the awarding of the prestigious RoSPA ‘Gold’ Award.

We now have an opportunity for a full time, permanent Environment and Ecology Specialist. Reporting to our Head of HSQE and based from head office in Carlisle, you will be responsible for providing environmental advice and support to all areas of the business.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

Ensure regulatory compliance across all areas of the business
Development of our Environmental Management System, ensuring continued accreditation to ISO 14001:2015
Establish key environmental targets for the business and drive continuous improvement
Providing support to project delivery teams including preparation of Environmental Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans (including support in the classification of waste), Habitat and Ecology Surveys, Community Impact Assessment etc)
Represent the company on relevant industry environmental forums and working groups
Liaison with regulatory bodies as necessary
The Individual

You will hold a relevant Environmental Management / Ecology Degree and be a full / chartered member of a professional body such as CIEEM / IEMA and have a proven track record working within the construction industry.

You will need to be flexible with the ability to adapt to a fast-moving environment.  With an acute focus on safety, you have the strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with multiple levels and disciplines to gain buy-in to the environmental agenda.  You will need excellent IT skills and the ability to create and develop educational tools in order to promote environmental awareness across the business.

In return, you will receive a salary of circa £40,000pa, base bonus of 20%, company car or allowance and numerous other benefits.
