Overview

We are looking for a senior ecologist to coordinate work on our biggest projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a young, dynamic and fun team in a rapidly growing company, based at our beautiful office in Stroud.

The position primarily involves the management of our work on large, exciting infrastructure projects, such as High Speed 2. There will also be opportunities to get involved in our many other ecology projects.

This is primarily a management and coordination role. We are seeking a candidate who is extremely well-organised, tenacious and a great communicator. The job will be mainly office based but there will be opportunities to get involved in ecological field surveys when required.

The Senior Survey Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Managing our work schedules on large infrastructure projects, involving coordination of the work of our network of ecologists.
  • Developing strong working relationships with key client contacts, to meet the array of challenges of these projects.
  • Assuring the quality of data and reports produced by our ecology teams, and continually driving up standards.
  • Helping to manage budgets, and other contract management tasks.
  • Contributing to fee proposals.
  • Training and mentoring junior ecologists.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a proven track record in ecological project management, with 5 years or more ecological consultancy experience.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the ecological requirements of large infrastructure projects.
  • Be an extremely good communicator and have a strong team ethic.
  • Be exceptionally well organised, with experience in creating or managing systems to track the flow of information on large projects.
  • Be able to work under pressure and able to quickly adapt to changing requirements.
  • Be competent in common software packages such as MS Office, QGIS or similar.
  • Be conscientious, and have an eye for detail.

Desirable:

  • Be a full member of the Chartered Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of construction site working, including health and safety considerations.
  • Have experience of training, mentoring and managing junior staff
  • Be commercially aware and a have a passion to help grow our company
  • Hold a full UK driving licence

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent, full time. (Part time appointments/job shares would be considered.)
