To meetour growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are seekinga Senior Freshwater Ecologist.
The Jacobs Ecology group is basednationally, and as such all office locations will be considered for this role.
As a Senior Freshwater Ecologist youwill be working on a range of projects, including a number of high profilenational infrastructure developments. You will work as part of a team, helpingto plan and deliver freshwater monitoring programmes, and to provide technicaladvice and guidance to project design teams on a range of projects.
The successful candidate will have aproven track record of undertaking a wide range of freshwater ecologicalsurveys, including fisheries, macro-invertebrate, macrophyte and habitatsurveys. Ideally you will have experience in a freshwater taxonomic discipline andof working within a laboratory environment. You will be well versed withwriting up technical reports, with experience of EcIA, WFD assessments and HRAs.The candidate will have a good understanding of freshwater pressures, and aworking knowledge of the relevant UK legislation including WFD.
A flexible approach to working is amust, as there will be a requirement for you to travel within the UK.
The successful candidate should have adegree as well as considerable relevant experience.
- Delivery offreshwater ecology surveys
- Survey lead,including the planning and coordination of survey logistics
- Data analysis andinterpretation
- Technical reportwriting
- Client management
- Degree qualification in a related discipline
- Freshwater taxonomy
- Proven ability to design and lead appropriatemonitoring programmes
- Ability to write clear and concise reports
- Data analysis and interpretation skills – use ofbiological metrics
- Working knowledge of relevant UK legislation, e.g.WFD and Habs Regs
- Full driving licence
- Relevant survey qualifications, e.g. River HabitatSurvey, electric fishing, protected species licence.
- Personal survival skills training and/or watersafety training.
- Post graduate qualification in a related discipline.
- Chartered status (or working towards) with arelevant professional body
