The past few years has seen PJC Consultancy take on a large number of exciting projects in the Sussex, Kent and Surrey areas, as well as further afield, resulting in a growing customer base and awareness of our multi-disciplinary offering. Projects include major infrastructure projects, a number of high profile public realm engagements, as well as working for clients such as developers, Local Authorities and private homeowners. As such we are now seeking, well motivated and enthusiastic ecological consultants and arboricultural consultants to join our growing team.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • An honours degree in ecology or closely related field;
  • Full member of CIEEM;
  • Holder of one or more protected species survey licences (a Level 2 class bat license is highly desirable);
  • Experience of undertaking a range of habitat and protected species surveys including Extended phase 1 habitat surveys, phase 2 protected species surveys and BREEAM assessments in accordance with recognised best practice guidelines;
  • Experience in the production and review of technical reports, management plans, BREEAM assessments and European protected species licenses;
  • Experience in working with mapping software tools such as QGIS, Arc GIS or AutoCAD;
  • Confident in liaising directly with clients, local planning authorities, Natural England and subcontractors whilst demonstrating excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Experience in managing a client portfolio;
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of European and national nature conservation legislation and UK planning policy;
  • Full current UK driving license; and
  • Willingness to work in the evening particularly during the bat survey season.
