Overview

ERM is seeking a full time Principal and Senior Consultant Ecologist to join their UK biodiversity team. The work will predominantly be on an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of a major rail infrastructure project based across a number of UK locations.

Role responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct access and survey co-ordination
  • Lead and direct EIA efforts
  • Technical expert in ecology
  • Lead communications with client on ecology related matters
  • Daily interaction with the technical teams undertaking the EIA work for their respective topics to identify requirements, and attending project meetings as necessary.
  • Directing junior staff with land owner discussions, progress updates, incident and other reporting as required.
  • Directing site survey work supporting other site ecologists.

Skill requirements:

  • Specialist ecologist
  • University degree holder in an environmental field such as Ecology or Environmental Sciences.
  • Experience of leading ecological surveys and EIAs preferably for linear developments
  • Health and safety experience; experience of reporting incidents / corrective actions beneficial.
  • Able to communicate well with external clients, stakeholders and other team members.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Desirable:

  • EPS licence for one or more species
  • Candidates with invertebrate or freshwater ecology skills
