To meetour growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are seekingaPrincipal Marine Ecologist.

The Jacobs Ecology group is basednationally, and as such all office locations will be considered for this role.

As a Principal Marine Ecologist, youwill be working on a range of projects, including a number of high profilenationally important infrastructure developments. You will work as part of ateam, helping to plan, manage and deliver marine workloads.

The successful candidate will have aproven track record of leading and delivering the marine input on a range ofprojects. The candidate will be well versed with planning, coordinating anddelivering marine work programmes.

The candidate will be well versed with planningand authoring technical reports, including baseline reports, environmentalimpact assessment chapters, technical notes and HRAs. The candidate should alsobe capable of handling and analysing large marine biological datasets usingstatistical packages such PRIMER. The candidate will have a working knowledgeof relevant UK legislation and have a proven record of liaising with regulatorsand consenting bodies such as MMO and NRW on technical issues and licensing.

The successful candidate will also beexpected to contribute to the delivery of other workloads out with theirspecialism, and to contribute to business development and staff training.

A flexible approach to working is amust, as there will be a requirement for you to travel within the UK.

The successful candidate should have adegree as a minimum and a significant amount of relevant experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating andmanaging all project related marine work
  • Developing andauthoring marine technical reports
  • Liaising withclients and regulators
  • Leading andsupporting business development initiatives
  • Supporting stafftraining

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degreequalification in a related discipline
  • Marinespecialism
  • Track recordof planning and coordinating marine monitoring programmes
  • A significant amount of professional experience with a proven track record of authoringtechnical reports for major projects
  • Detailedunderstanding of relevant UK legislation and of the EIA/DCO process
  • Ability towrite clear and concise technical/consultancy reports, including baseline, EIAand HRA chapters
  • Experienceof liaising with regulators, including MMO, NRW, NE etc
  • Charteredstatus with a relevant professional body
  • Full drivinglicence

Desirable:

  • Post graduate qualification in related discipline
  • Personal survival skills training
