Overview

The focus of this role will be to support the delivery of the Greater Wash marine SPA classification working jointly for the East Midlands, Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire and Norfolk & Suffolk area teams and input to The Wash and its Approaches and Lincs Coast Focus Areas, including coastal land management work, conservation advice and coastal/marine sustainable development.

The successful candidate will

•Work as part of a small project team within Areas 3, 5 and 9 to deliver Greater Wash Marine SPA classification.

•Ensure Greater Wash SPA Stakeholder Engagement Plan is up to date

•Gather analyse data/evidence to aid in the completion of reviews/assessments around habitats and species within designated areas

•Support the development of Conservation Advice for designates/proposed sites

•Support condition assessment work for Area 5 and 9

•Input to East Midlands coastal and marine Focus Areas working collaboratively with relevant colleagues through a project team approach

•Support the work of The Wash and Lincs Coast Coastal Integration Group (CIG)

•Work as part of a small project team across areas 5 and 9 on SSSI Favourable condition 2020 target for The Wash.

•Participate in relevant internal networks to ensure the exchange of information and best practice and to assist a broader development of understanding within the wider organisation.

•When required help colleagues in Southern North Sea Network to deliver other areas of marine work

•Represent the Southern North Sea Network internally and externally, including giving advice, guidance, seeking and clarifying information.

Technical/specialist knowledge/qualifications

•Knowledge of the marine habitats in the Southern North Sea area (habitats, species, activities, stakeholders) [essential]

•Project management experience [desirable]

•Knowledge of Natura 2000 designation processes [desirable]

•Knowledge of the impacts of activities / pressures on marine features [desirable]

•Experience of casework [desirable]

•Experience / capability in use of ARC GIS to view activity layers [desirable]

•Experience / capability to interpret evidence of features, activities, condition, etc [desirable]

•An ability to simplify and resolve practical delivery issues,

•An ability to make sound judgements regarding environmental and stakeholder risk, knowing when to escalate issues as appropriate

•Good communication skills including an ability to quickly engage and build effective working relationships with a range of teams, staff and stakeholders

•Good organisational skills and ability to co-ordinate complex work programmes and operational activity

•An understanding of our Customer Service Standards
