Overview

The company is seeking to recruit a Technical Manager to lead, manage and develop a team of professional staff and manage a range ecological and environmental projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and assigning workload to a number of ecologists and environmental scientists, and coordinating project inputs and requirements to deliver a high-quality service to clients. The role requires candidates to have in-depth knowledge of the ecological and environmental requirements across a broad range of large-scale infrastructure and development projects, and have a proven track record at managing and overcoming difficult ecological and environmental challenges.

 

The role offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional to live in and work from Galway, Ireland’s third largest city, on projects all across the country, for a fast-growing, successful and busy consultancy. The key responsibilities of the role will be to:

·         Plan and allocate staff resources to projects to manage current and forecast workload;

·         Maintain oversight on interim and final project deliverables and deadlines, to ensure projects remain on programme and within budget;

·         Work with the other ecology and environmental staff to identify project and client requirements and tailor the fit-for-purpose Scope of Work required to successfully complete the project;

·         Build strong relationships with customers and proactively manage those client relationships to deliver the level of customer service expected;

·         Manage the pipeline of new work, by coordinating, preparing and issuing fee proposals and tenders and identify new opportunity areas for future growth;

·         Instruct, support and mentor a team of ecologists and environmental scientists to deliver on project requirements;

·         Prioritise workload while balancing client expectations, available staff resources and project deadlines;

·         Support other staff in the fulfilment of their assigned duties and advancement of their careers through ongoing mentoring and proactive performance management;

 

The key requirements of the post will be:

·         A minimum of 10 years’ post-graduate experience in fulfilling similar functions in a similar consultancy role;

·         A demonstrable working knowledge of ecology and environmental project requirements and project management as they relate to the services offered by an environmental and ecological consultancy;

·         A third-level qualification in ecology, environmental or natural sciences would be an advantage, but candidates from other technical backgrounds with the necessary skills to complete the role will also be considered;

·         A proven track record at building long-term professional relationships with clients and key stakeholders;

·         Demonstrable ability to manage the busy and varied workload of a team professionals;

·         A Full driving licence;

 

Successful candidates will be offered an attractive salary package, including bonus/profit-share, commensurate with their experience. Candidates relocating from outside Ireland will be offered an additional relocation allowance.
