Overview

Kier Strategic Highways are looking to recruit an Ecologist who will report to the Environmental Manager.

Job Purpose:

To provide specialist ecological support to the Design Services.
To produce comprehensive and accurate scheme designs and surveys in accordance with the scheme brief and in line with the time and budgetary allocations.
To carry out environmental assessments and provide environmental advice as required.
Role Responsibilities:Developing and designing solutions in accordance to Highways England and other client standards, procedures and requirements and also meeting environmental requirements e.g. Environment Agency and Natural England.
Production of accurate and concise scheme documents and reports.
Carry out specialist ecological surveys and assessments.
Production of designs that comply with relevant health and safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations.
Programming of assessments, further site surveys, watching briefs and organising Environmental contractors on behalf of the project manager.
Input into scoping and assessment for large scale improvements.
Determination of risk and receptors for environmental, heritage, ecological features and design mitigation for impacts.
Undertaking desk studies and site surveys including phase 1 and protected species for Value Management and technical survey.
Keep up to date with new environmental policies and legislation.
Input and review of the relevant procedures.
Undertake Environmental Impact Assessments and contribute to the Impacts Register.
Carrying out relevant surveys as required.
Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
Experience of working with protected species
Strong experience in a similar or supporting post
Experience working in the Civil Engineering/Construction industry
