Overview

Our Technical Directorate are looking for and experienced Ecology Advisors to co-ordinate activities and support them in our Birmingham office.

Work closely with the Construction team and assist with the development of inputs to their programmes, helping to ensure that biodiversity and ecology requirements are properly integrated.

Organise, attend and follow up meetings with Natural England, nature conservation NGOs and others to support the development of mitigation measures for the impact of HS2 on biodiversity.

Assist with review draft text for ecological assessment and mitigation measures for consultation documents, ES documents and Hybrid Bill submission so that the information is accurate and complete.

Contribute to the development of HS2’s approach to demonstrating no-net-loss to biodiversity.

Maintain records and input relevant material to HS2 document control to ensure a full audit trail of documents is available to the HS2 programme and assist with Freedom of Information responses to ensure that statutory requirements are met. Liaise with Contracts and Finance to develop contracts for consultants as required in the ecology team.

About you:

Proven track record in professional ecology environment
Degree educated (or equivalent) in an ecology based subject
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of biodiversity principles and practice
Knowledge of protected species ecology and licensing approaches
You’ll be able to build good relationships with all members of the team, wider organisation and external partners.
If you’ve gained all or some of your experience in an infrastructure or construction environment you’ll find that helpful.
