Greenspace Ecological Solutions are seeking a Senior or Principal Ecologist to join our team.

We are looking for experienced ecological consultants with a forward-thinking attitude and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the planning system and current wildlife legislation. Working as part of a team you will manage various projects, provide ecological advice, prepare reports and assessments and liaise directly with clients. Experience working with government agencies and developers, with a proven ability to identify and facilitate ecological solutions is essential. Candidates must also have strong project management and communication skills, be commercially aware, organised, detail orientated and motivated to work both independently and as part of a team.

The salary and job specification will be dependent on experience and skillset and in response a wide range of candidates are encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from dynamic, highly motivated ecologists and may consider part time working.

Typical Activities for the role will include:

•         Management of a range of projects from initial contact through to completion

•         Co-ordination and implementation of a range of habitat and protected species surveys

•         Undertaking of analysis and statistical assessment of ecological data

•         Designing and implementing mitigation strategies

•         Production of tenders and technical reports

•         Company representation at meetings, functions and occasional events

•         Managing and mentoring junior members of the team.

Key Attributes and Personal Specification Required:

•         A genuine interest in understanding, identifying and resolving ecological issues

•         A BSc or an MSc in a relevant subject

•         A minimum of four years’ (for Senior) six years’ (for Principal) experience of working within ecological consultancy

•         At least one Natural England EPS licences

•         Full or Associate member of CIEEM

•         Have detailed working knowledge of the planning system and UK / EU wildlife legislation

•         Experience of project management and high levels of client care

•         Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with clients, third parties (NE, LPAs) and colleagues

•         Previous experience in the production of tenders, technical reports, method statements, management plans, EcIA, EPSM Licence applications and BREEAM assessments

•         A pro-active approach to learning and knowledge sharing

•         Commercial awareness and be highly organised

•         Clear and concise writing style

•         Good presentation skills

•         Experience of people management and mentoring

•         Enthusiasm, project commitment and a dynamic approach

•         Full UK driving licence and have access to a car you can use for work.
